Dr Jess Rayner (BSc, MSc, DClinPsy)

I have a decade of applied experience and study in the field of psychology, including the completion of doctoral training and five years within the NHS. My skills and knowledge have developed through working with people from all walks of life to improve their psychological well-being, recover from mental health difficulties, and build a more meaningful life.

Alongside my private practice I continue to work part-time in NHS, where I support people who are experiencing long-term health conditions and emotional distress.

â€‹In addition to being a psychologist, I am also a fellow human and at the core of all the work I do sits a genuine compassion and authenticity.  My approach is down to earth, warm, and curious. I love to solve problems and work collaboratively with people to get to the source of issues, make meaningful changes, and navigate the bumps along the way.

I work holistically, appreciating the connections between the mind and the body, understanding how this exists in the wider context of a persons past and present circumstances.  The aim is to support you in becoming more able to respond to your emotions, thoughts, and inner world more effectively, build awareness, and start living well in the here and now, rather than being stuck in the past or future. I am trained in a range of evidence-based approaches which I integrate to support this. I can offer therapy sessions whilst walking in nature, sometimes known as 'walk and talk' therapy.

I enjoy working with a range of different people with varied life experiences. Some areas of specialist interest include working with trauma, anxiety, self-critical thinking, burnout and stress, persistent pain conditions (e.g., fibromyalgia, hEDS), and neurodivergence (e.g., autism, ADHD).
